Back to School Checklist: Middle School and Beyond

Are you ready to send them back for a full year of school? They're getting so much bigger and so independent. Which means you have a fine line to walk. You want them to know you trust them, to let them make some of their own decisions and learn responsibility. Yet you don't want them to make costly mistakes, lose things that are important to them, or have too much responsibility too soon. We have a solution that will help you get them ready for school and will solve some of those problems.

Labels! It's true. Simply encouraging your child to get in the habit of labeling their things can reinforce their connection to their stuff and remind them to take care of it. It's also a great habit to develop for the future. It teaches them responsibility and the value of things.

Labels for Middle Schoolers and High Schoolers
Sure, you might know us for those adorable custom label styles we create for younger kids, but we also make more neutral labels that are great for middle school and high school-aged kids. Our One Color School Labels Pack or Simple School Labels Pack are two great options for neutral designs.

Specifically, we have neutral styles for kids in middle and high school that give them some options. Your child is going through a tough time. Being a kid one day is just as important to them as being all grown up is the next day. Some kids will love more youth-inspired labels and others will turn up their nose at anything they see as childish.

Secondary Education Back-to-School Checklist
So, what are your kids (or you) going to be labeling this year? Well, this is the important part, isn't it? Getting them just the right supplies so they have what they need is essential. Of course, using the school checklist is important, but these are some of the essentials all kids in secondary school (grades 7 through 12 and beyond) will need.

Labeling for Back-to-School
Labeling everything your kids need for school is a great idea. Encouraging them to help you label is an even better idea. It's a step in the right direction when it comes to responsibility, and it reinforces what's theirs in their minds. This makes it harder to forget things and misplace them. It can also cut down on how much they lend out to other people, and if they lend something, labels make it more likely that their stuff is returned to them.

Shop Name Bubbles custom kids Kindergarten School Labels. As you noticed, we have a ton of different label packs, but we've tried to make it easy for you to get a variety of labels in a cost-effective School Labels Pack. We also have a basic College Labels Pack that's great for the entire family. It's very neutral and comes with 59 handy labels. We find that many customers love to pick up one of our value packs and then an extra batch of Clothing Labels or Everyday Labels.

How to Use Name Bubbles Labels
Putting the labels on is very straightforward. Simply apply the peel-and-stick labels to a clean and dry surface and then let them rest for about 24 hours before their first wash. The only labels that require extra care are the iron-on clothing labels, but that's a pretty easy process as well. See our helpful YouTube video of how to apply Iron-On Labels easily.

Once you've attached the sticker labels, they're dishwasher safe, freezer safe, microwave safe, and waterproof. They aren't permanent, though as they can be picked off if needed – but it takes some effort. This isn't bad because sometimes you want to turn items into hand-me-downs or donate used items. There's nothing worse than getting a sibling's hand-me-down item and having it still labeled with their big sib's name on it.

The iron-on labels are laundry and dryer safe, and they're permanent and waterproof. This means that you can't pick the labels off, but they'll hold tight to those clothing items that don't have tags or brand stamps. If your garments have care tags and brand stamps, our Press-and-Stick Clothing Labels work well, and then you don't have to worry about using an iron.

Good luck getting your kids off to school this year and returning them to a normal routine that works for everyone. We love hearing how you've used our labels in creative ways to save the day.
