Valentine’s Day with kids is rarely picture‑perfect (often a little chaotic, especially when you factor in the sugar highs), and that’s part of the charm! It’s glue sticks rolling under the table, hearts taped a little crooked, and kids proudly announcing, “This day is my favorite!” when all the cookies and candy stack up. Whether you’re crafting after school, on a cozy weekend afternoon, or squeezing in something festive before bedtime, Valentine’s Day is a chance to slow down and make small memories that stick.

We’re sharing some of our favorite Valentine’s Day activities families can enjoy at home! From easy crafts and free printables to simple food activities that kids love getting their hands into. Everything is fun, low-stress, and some are even easy to download and print, so everyone in the family can join in.

And if your child is also celebrating Valentine’s Day at school or daycare, our Valentine Sticker Exchange Cards go perfectly with these activities, making classroom exchanges just as fun (and far less stressful) too!

1. Cozy Valentine Coloring Time, Perfect for All Ages

valentine's day coloring sheets

Coloring is one of those activities that sparks creativity at any age. There’s something special about sitting together at the table with crayons and markers spread out everywhere. We’ve turned some of our original Name Bubbles’ Valentine’s Day designs into fun color pages! Our Valentine‑themed coloring pages are an easy win for toddlers, big kids, and even parents who want to join in.

Ways to make our color pages even more meaningful:

  • Print a few designs and let kids pick their favorite

  • Talk about who they want to give it to while they color

  • Add their name and a short message once they’re done

These pages also work great as homemade Valentins when paired with a small note or Valentine Exchange Card. Younger children will love giving these to mom, dad, or grandparents, while older kids will want to take them to their friends. It’s a simple, fun way to celebrate with the entire family!

4. No-Bake, Sweet Treat Fun

Between daycare events and classroom parties, baking is probably the last thing on your list of Valentine’s Day to-dos. But that doesn’t mean you can’t whip up some special treats for the family! You don’t need an elaborate recipe to make Valentine’s Day feel special. One of our favorite things to do is take store-bought googies and kick them up a notch!

Decorate Store-Bought Cookies

What you’ll need:

  • Store-bought sugar cookies or plain frosted cookies
  • Tubes of icing or frosting
  • Valentine sprinkles

How to do it:

  1. Set out the cookies on a plate or tray
  2. Let kids add icing and sprinkles however they like
  3. Give the cookies a few minutes to set before moving them

This option is perfect for younger kids and creates instant Valentine cheer with minimal cleanup (hallelujah!).

Chocolate-Dipped Pretzels

What you’ll need:

  • Pretzel rods or twists
  • Chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • Valentine sprinkles

How to do it:

  1. Melt the chocolate according to the package instructions
  2. Dip each pretzel halfway into the chocolate
  3. Add sprinkles before the chocolate sets
  4. Place on parchment paper and let cool

Kids love to get involved and make something they can hand out. These make great take-along treats for neighbors, teachers, or family members. They also make a family movie night even sweeter!

Valentine Fruit Cups (Kid-Friendly + No Assembly Tricks)

What you’ll need:

  • Strawberries, grapes, melon, or bananas
  • Small cups or bowls
  • Small heart-shaped cookie cutter (optional)

How to do it:

  1. Cut fruit into bite-sized pieces
  2. If you have a heart-shaped cutter, use it on melon slices or strawberries for a simple Valentine's Day touch
  3. Let kids mix and match fruit pieces into their own cups
  4. Or let kids arrange their fruit pieces into a heart shape on a plate
  5. Serve right away or cover and refrigerate until ready to enjoy

Fruit cups are easy for kids to help assemble, don’t require any special presentation skills, and still feel festive with just a few heart-shaped pieces. They’re a great lighter option when you want something sweet without relying on candy and sugar highs!

Kids are proud to share things they make, especially if it’s something they give to others to enjoy. Let your children help decide who each treat is for - cookies for grandparents, pretzels for neighbors, or fruit cups for their friends. Adding a Valentine card or printable tag is a simple finishing touch that makes each treat feel thoughtful and complete!

Valentine Sticker Exchange Cards

If your child is exchanging Valentine's cards with friends or classmates, then we’ve got the most stick-tastic Valentine exchange cards around! Our Valentine Sticker Exchange Cards are a fun alternative to traditional paper cards, each having stickers that last way past February 14th!

Valentine exchange cards for kid variety pack

Each exchange card comes with at least one peel-off sticker, making it a great no-candy option that kids love, rather than just another paper card that endsup in the trash. Kids can add these vinyl stickers to water bottles, lunch boxes, notebooks, folders, and school supplies.

Why parents and kids love them:

  • A fun non-candy Valentine option

  • Great for school parties and daycare

  • Kiss-cut stickers that kids will actually use

  • Stickers are waterproof, dishwasher-safe, fade-resistant, and long-lasting

Our Valentine exchange cards feature positive messages, kind words, and kid-friendly designs, making them the perfect addition to your child’s classroom party or daycare celebration!

Making Valentine’s Day Special & Fun

Valentine’s Day with kids is less about perfection and more about connection and having fun along the way. It’s a chance to celebrate friendship, kindness, and those small moments where kids get to say, “I like you” or “you’re my favorite,” usually with glittery hands, big smiles, and a few sugary snacks involved. With a few free printables, downloadable activities, and Name Bubbles sticker exchange cards, teaching kids about kindness and the importance of friendship can feel natural, easy, and fun.

And yes, there will be candy highs, giggles, and at least one dramatic debate over whose decorated cookie is clearly the best one. That’s all part of the magic -  the slightly messy, joy-filled moments that stick with kids long after Valentine’s Day is over!
