The Positivity Corner

It’s almost guaranteed that life will be full of highs and lows. There will be joyous moments you will remember for the rest of your life, but there will also be heartbreaking moments that will lead to disappointment and sadness. Part of the beautiful quality of life is living through both the good and bad and enduring everything – even when life throws you adversity.

Forgiveness is the key to moving beyond troubling moments. It is defined by the Positivity Project as, “the ability to move past being injured, and allow yourself to reconcile with the person who hurt you.” Forgiveness is a healthy character trait that allows someone to accept other people’s mistakes and forgive the hurt that happened. As adults, we have had plenty of opportunities to forgive. However, forgiveness could be an important yet difficult characteristic for children to grasp.

It’s the season of giving. But what does that really mean? In this blog post, we’ll discuss gratitude and why it’s such an important characteristic children need to take the time to develop. After all, Thanksgiving is not only about eating delicious food, it’s also about taking time to give thanks and be appreciative of what we have.

If you have a little one focused on respect, empathy, and ensuring people are treated the way they deserve, you have a child with strength in fairness. According to the Positivity Project, fairness means that you “believe that all people have value. You approach situations with an unbiased mindset and treat everyone with respect.” This character trait is developed when individuals determine what they believe is right and wrong. 

Have you ever made a recipe that includes lemon zest? Lemon zest, or the small peelings of a lemon’s skin, have the power to transform a recipe by adding a lemon-y zing! While it might seem like such a small addition, zest can have a huge impact on the recipe’s results. 

Just like lemon zest, enthusiasm or zest can make a huge difference in life. It is important to encourage your children to embrace their own “zest” and to live their life full of passion. Enthusiasm is one of the character traits that might be overlooked, but make a world of difference in someone’s life. 

Curiosity helps fuel growth and knowledge. Whenever you wonder how something is made or why something is the way that it is, you’ve exercising curiosity. Those questions that you ponder will help you continue learning about the world and find answers that teach you new skills and strengths

Where would we be without creativity? After all, most of our world can be attributed to someone’s creativity. Whether it’s the architectural design of your apartment building, the plot of your favorite movie, or the pattern of your new blouse, creativity was a cornerstone in the processing of building those items.
